What to watch and read this week, 26 October – 1 November

The main new fantasy and science fiction releases this week, 26 October to 1 November, are two TV finales on Friday 30 October: Dark Matter season 2 on Apple TV and the last four episodes of Avatar: Seven Havens on Paramount+. Sarah J. Maas's A Court of Splintered Harmony is reported for 27 October, but that date is not yet confirmed.

This edition sorts the week into what is firm, what is only reported and what has already landed. If you missed the earlier run, last week's edition covers 19 to 25 October. Nothing below spoils a plot; only dates are given.

Watch: What new science fiction and fantasy TV is on this week?

The two clearest dates both fall on Friday 30 October. Dark Matter season 2 on Apple TV airs new episodes on Fridays, and its season finale lands that day. Avatar: Seven Havens on Paramount+ premiered on 9 October with three episodes, then released new batches weekly; the final four arrive on 30 October.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2 on Starz also airs on Fridays, so an episode would fall on 30 October if the pattern holds, though no end date is given. Yaga on AMC+ began on 23 October with two episodes and then runs weekly. Later episodes that fall in this window are not listed, so check the schedule first.

Several shows arrived before the window. Carrie reached Prime Video on 7 October, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 dropped all ten episodes on Netflix on 20 October, and VisionQuest reached Disney+ in mid-October. Reports give either 13 or 14 October for VisionQuest, so treat the exact day as uncertain.

Read: What new fantasy books come out in late October 2026?

Sarah J. Maas's A Court of Splintered Harmony is the strongest book candidate. Several listings give 27 October, but the date has not been confirmed on a publisher page, so treat it as reported rather than settled.

Other titles from the same listings could not be checked against an opened page, so they are left out. The October books with a confirmed date all came out earlier, on 6 October. The list used was cut off partway through late October, so there may be more titles. Check the publisher's page before you buy. For a place to start in the genre, see our map of science fiction.

Play: Are there new fantasy or science fiction games this week?

No fantasy or science fiction game with a confirmed release date between 26 October and 1 November has been found.

Galactic Racer, a Star Wars racing game set in the New Republic era, was listed for 6 October, alongside its digital art book, The Art of Speed. Both fall before the window.

Events and news: What Star Wars is out in October 2026?

Most October Star Wars releases fall before this week. Star Pilots, a Wedge Antilles manuscript by Chris Kempshall, was listed for 6 October, and The Phantom Menace: A Visual Archive for 13 October. Star Wars Icons: Darth Vader and William Shakespeare's Star Wars: Ahsoka's Tale – Part the First were listed for 20 October.

The Fall of Kylo Ren #3 and the final issue of The High Republic Adventures – Pathfinders, #6, were listed for 21 October. No Star Wars release with a confirmed date in the window was found, and the listing was cut off for late October. No fan events in the window were found. What to look out for next

Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 3 on Disney+ is due on 20 November 2026, outside this week but the next big fantasy date. Ahsoka season 2 is listed for 20 January 2027, and Oswald for 17 February 2027.

Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord premiered on 6 April 2026, and its second season is due in 2027, with no exact date yet. Next week, check Dark Matter, Avatar: Seven Havens and Yaga for final episodes and any new dates.
